    Song of the Simple Truth
    Julia de Burgos
    (translated from Spanish to English by Grecia E. Pérez Caldera)
    Is not he who takes me...
    It’s my life that throbs in his life.
    It’s the warm call of my soul
    that has gone to sing between his rimes.
    It’s the uneasiness of journey of my spirit
    that has found in his course an eternal track.

    He and I are one.
    Oneself and always among the peaks;
    spring embracing rain and earth;
    merged into a blow wave and breeze;
    white hand linking stone and gold;
    cosmic time bonding night and day.
    He and I are one.
    Oneself and forever in the wounds.
    Oneself and forever in the conscience.
    Oneself and forever in the joy.
    I will leave his chest at certain hours,
    when he sleeps the pain in his pupils,
    in each echo drinking eternity,
    and in each dawn loading a smile.
    And I will be clarity for his hands
    when tipping over to climb the days
    in the sacred battle of the instinct
    to be saved from suicidal bursts.
    If lost from the pathway, by the crazy
    caged of the world, there was one day
    a light discharge by my spirit
    will announce him the return to my life
    Is not he who takes me...
    It’s his life that runs through mine.
